Here is every color e-ink photo and art frame we could verify, model by model. All of them use E Ink Spectra 6, so the picture technology is the same: what changes is size, sharpness, battery, software and price.

Prices are the makers’ own list prices in US dollars (and pounds where sold in the UK), as seen on September 28, 2026. They change often, especially around Black Friday: check the shop before you buy.
What the numbers mean
- Pixels and size: a 13.3-inch frame at 1600 × 1200 has about 150 pixels per inch. The 10-inch Reflection Frame fits the same pixels in a smaller screen (200 ppi), so it looks sharper up close. Big 31.5-inch frames spread fewer pixels further (Fraimic quotes 94 ppi), so stand back.
- Battery claim: each maker assumes a different number of photo changes (one a day for Aura and Bloomin8, one a week for SwitchBot, three a day for Reflection), so claims aren’t directly comparable. See battery life explained.
- Photo change: how long the screen takes to redraw. Color e-paper flashes and shimmers for several seconds while the pigments move; that’s normal.
- Subscription: none of these need one to show your own photos. Some charge for AI art or extras.
Which should you pick?
- Cheapest 13.3-inch, and sold in the UK: SwitchBot AI Art Frame ($349.99 / £359.99).
- Sharpest, and cheapest overall: Reflection Frame 10" ($199.99).
- Easiest for a family to share photos: Aura Ink ($499, US only).
- Local control, IKEA frames, Home Assistant: Bloomin8.
- AI art without a subscription: Fraimic.
- Art library and very large canvases: InkPoster.
Frames we left out
- Ionnyk (Belgium) makes beautiful e-paper art frames from €1,790, but they show black and white only, so they aren’t color frames (Ionnyk).
- Samsung’s EMDX color e-paper displays are sold to businesses as signage, not to shoppers (einksmart, July 2026).
- Bloomin8’s 10-inch model is still crowdfunding; TechCrunch reported a sub-$200 target price. We’ll add it once it’s on general sale.
