Best for: Families who want the simplest way for everyone to send photos to one frame.

Prices are the makers’ own list prices in US dollars (and pounds where sold in the UK), as seen on September 28, 2026. They change often, especially around Black Friday: check the shop before you buy.
Subscription and running costs
None required; unlimited photo storage included (Aura). Like the other frames here, it runs on a rechargeable battery rather than a power cord, so running costs are close to nothing beyond any optional plan.
Strengths
- No subscription, and unlimited storage for your photos
- Aura’s app is built around sharing: relatives can send photos straight to the frame
- A front light keeps photos visible in dim rooms, which most e-ink frames lack
- Only 0.6 inches thick; hangs portrait or landscape, or stands on a table
- Photos can be preloaded before you give it as a gift (Digital Camera World)
Limitations
- $499 for a 13.3-inch screen, about double an LCD Aura frame (Digital Camera World)
- Designed for one new photo a day; more frequent changes shorten the battery life
- Photos look dotty or grainy up close, like film grain (Digital Camera World, 9to5Mac)
- Relies on Aura’s servers to get photos to the frame (9to5Mac)
- US only for now; no video or sound

UK: Not on sale in the UK when we checked on September 28, 2026: Aura’s Ink page sends UK visitors to the UK shop, which lists only LCD frames (there “Ink” is a color option for LCD models).
